Why I am walking for WAGECWednesday 15th Mar
Having studied Human Rights Law, with a particular focus on Violence Against Women and Girls, I am increasingly aware of the rise in IPV following the pandemic and the increasing cost of living.
Whether you live in the UK or in Australia (where I completed my studies), I can guarantee that domestic violence is rife within your community. On average, a woman is killed by an intimate partner every 10 days. This type of gender-based violence takes a profound toll on women, children and communities.
It is a leading driver of homelessness for women and children and the greatest health risk factor (greater than smoking, alcohol and obesity) for women in their reproductive years.
Intimate partner violence impacts all of us.
This is why I am walking for WAGEC and asking for donations so that women and children can walk away from violence.
Well done Issy for taking part in such a great cause that silently impacts so many women.
Best of luck Isobel
