I'm running to end violence against women and children.
On Sunday 13 September, I’m running 10km to call for an end to violence against women and children. ❤️
Domestic and family violence is a national crisis. In Australia, a woman is killed by an intimate partner every 11 days.
I’m running as part of Walk for WAGEC, raising funds for the Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre, a feminist, grassroots organisation based in Sydney that supports women and children experiencing domestic and family violence, homelessness and crisis. Every night, WAGEC supports around 200 women and children, providing safe accommodation, crisis responses, practical assistance and ongoing support to help families rebuild their lives.
The money we raise goes directly towards things that can make an enormous difference when a woman and her children are escaping violence: emergency accommodation, food and essential items, counselling and trauma recovery programs, support for children, and advocacy to change the systems that allow violence to continue.
For some perspective, $89 can provide a night of safe accommodation for a mother and child fleeing violence, and $120 can provide them with a week of groceries. Every dollar donated will make a real difference to real people.
Women and children deserve to be safe... everywhere, including in their own homes.
If you can, please sponsor my run. Every donation, big or small, helps provide safety, support and a path forward. ❤️ If you can't sponsor, please support by sharing this page.
Let’s run towards a future where no woman or child has to live in fear.
My Impact
So far this year, I’ve helped provide:
2
nights of safe accommodation for a woman and child experiencing violence.
2
women with access to counselling services, helping them rebuild after trauma.
4
care packs incl. toiletries, PJs and essential items to help a mother fleeing violence.

Well done. Proud of you!!!
