I'm walking to end violence against women and children.
Violence against women and children is not just a statistic. Behind every number is a person, a family, and a life that deserved safety.
I’m doing this walk to raise awareness and funds for women and children affected by violence — for those still living through it, those rebuilding their lives afterwards, and those who never got the chance to.
This cause holds a personal meaning for me too. June 2024 was the month I survived domestic violence. During that same month, eight women in Australia were killed by men.
It’s something I think about differently now. I was fortunate enough to walk away from that period of my life and continue mine, while other women experiencing violence never got that opportunity.
I don’t want my experience to be the focus of this fundraiser, because this issue reaches far beyond any one person or story. But being here means I have the opportunity to use my voice, raise money and hopefully contribute to something that helps another woman or child find safety.
So I’ll be walking for those still experiencing violence, for the people rebuilding afterwards, for the children who deserve to grow up feeling safe, and in memory of the women who should still be here.
