Terms & Conditions
1. I wish to participate in the Walk for WAGEC (Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre) event in person on Sunday 13th September 2026, or virtually on a date between 7th and 18th September 2026. I understand that my execution of this Waiver and Release is a prerequisite for participation in the Event. I further understand that there may be risks and dangers inherent in participating in the Event.
2. I understand that in order to be allowed to participate in the Event, I agree to assume all risks and to release and hold harmless Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre and their employees, sponsors, and volunteers, including walk leaders, participating communities and all governmental and public entities including, but not limited to, the State, Territory and local municipalities where the Event takes place (collectively the “Released Parties”).
3. I intend by this Waiver and Release to release, in advance, and to waive my rights and discharge all of the persons and entities mentioned above, from any and all claims for damages for death, personal injury or property damage which I may have, or which may hereafter accrue to me as a result of my participation in the Event, even though this liability may arise from negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons or entities being released, from dangerous or defective property or equipment owned, maintained or controlled by them or because of their possible liability without fault. I understand and agree that this Waiver and Release is binding on my heirs, assigns, attorneys, and legal representatives.
4. I understand that I am solely responsible for my health and safety, and I acknowledge that I am physically capable of participating in and completing this Event.
5. I agree to allow Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre the use of my name, image in photography, videography, and likeness in connection with Walk for Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre, for any purpose related to advertising or promotion of the event worldwide in perpetuity in all forms of media now and forever known.
6. Should any portion of this Waiver and Release be judicially determined invalid, voidable or unenforceable, for any reason, such portion of this Waiver and Release shall be severable from the remaining portions herein and the invalidity, voidability, or unenforceability thereof shall not affect the validity, effect, enforceability, or interpretation of the remaining provisions of this Waiver and Release.
7. If you reach the fundraising targets described below (in AUD), you will be eligible to receive the following rewards:-
• Raise $89 – Walk for WAGEC t-shirt
• Raise $178 – Walk for WAGEC socks
• Raise $300 – Walk for WAGEC hat
• Team Raise $1000 - One entry in the draw to win one set of 10x Movie tickets
7.1 Reward recipients will be notified via a triggered email when they are eligible to claim a reward. Rewards will be provided to participants on Walk Day (13th September 2026), unless participants email walk4wagec@wagec.org.au to arrange alternative pick up or delivery. Postal delivery of prizes will be at the cost of the participant, unless otherwise agreed.
7.2 If we run out of stock of a merchandise item, we will notify the reward recipient by email and the recipient will instead receive an item of similar value. The design on final items may vary due to volume.
7.3 If a prize/reward includes vouchers, the vouchers are only valid until the voucher expiry date specified on the voucher and are subject to any terms and conditions imposed by the voucher supplier.
8. WAGEC may from time to time conduct match giving campaigns in connection with the Event, whereby a corporate donor has agreed to match community donations up to a specified dollar amount (Match Cap) during a specified campaign period (Match Period). Match giving is subject to availability and will cease once the Match Cap for the relevant campaign is reached. Donations made outside a Match Period, or after the Match Cap has been reached, will not be matched. WAGEC makes no representation or warranty that any match giving commitment will be fulfilled by the relevant corporate donor and accepts no liability in the event that a corporate donor fails to fulfil its matching commitment.
9. WAGEC may conduct giveaways or prize draws in connection with the Event (Giveaway). Unless otherwise specified by WAGEC:
9.1 Giveaways are open to registered participants who are residents of Australia at the time of entry;
9.2 entry into any Giveaway is not conditional on making a donation;
9.3 prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other alternative;
9.4 winners will be selected at random and notified by email;
9.5 unclaimed prizes will be forfeited after 14 days of notification;
9.6 WAGEC’s decision in respect of any Giveaway is final and binding; and
9.7 Giveaways are subject to any additional terms and conditions published by WAGEC in connection with the specific Giveaway.
10. Participants under the age of 18 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to register for and participate in the Event. By completing registration on behalf of a minor, the parent or legal guardian agrees to be bound by this Waiver and Release on behalf of the minor participant and acknowledges the risks ordinarily associated with participation in the Event on the minor’s behalf.
11. WAGEC reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or vary the format of the Event (including converting the in-person event to a virtual event) at any time and for any reason, including circumstances beyond its reasonable control. WAGEC will use reasonable endeavours to notify registered participants of any material changes to the Event. WAGEC will not be liable to any participant for any loss, cost or expense arising from any cancellation, postponement or variation of the Event, and registration fees are non-refundable.
12. WAGEC collects personal information from participants (including name, contact details and fundraising data) in connection with the Event. This information is handled in accordance with WAGEC’s Privacy Policy, which is available at https://www.wagec.org.au/privacy-policy/. By registering to participate in the Event, you consent to WAGEC collecting, using and disclosing your personal information for the purposes of administering the Event, processing donations, distributing rewards, and communicating with you about the Event and future WAGEC fundraising activities.
13. This Waiver and Release is governed by the laws of New South Wales and the Commonwealth of Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales in respect of any dispute arising in connection with this Waiver and Release or the Event.
